Shelby Robertson, Innovation, writer, artist, and publisher.

Shelby Robertson has been creating, drawing, painting, composing, and writing his whole life. Initially gaining his first break into commercial art with landing a full time gig with British Aeronautics Journal. His jobs ranged from AutoCAD proposed mechanical designs, to watercolor paintings and illustrations conveying multiple investors groups intentions with blimp production, general aeornautical gear, and warehousing for vendors. That stint lasted a full year, then in 1994, Shelby got his first big break in the Graphic Novel field being hired by Rob Liefeld at Extreme Studios (defunct) of Image Comics/Maximum Press. Shelby's first Pin-Up viewed by Liefeld in sample form became the first published piece by the artist. Shelby made the move to Anaheim, working in the 'bullpen' on projects such as ghosting backgrounds, small panel finishes, layouts for others, then onto his own serialized tales for Crypt, Badrock, and Black Flag. Multiple projects were handled for Rob Liefeld's other publishing icon Maximum Press; a handful cancelled due to financial and pre-order strains of the publisher. Hundreds of both published and unpublished pin-up material was created leading to even more story development artwork and a few more serialized tales. Soon after leaving Image Comics in Anaheim, Shelby ventured to the freelance market being picked up by Malibu on a short run of Prime which was ultimately cancelled due to Marvel Comics immediate purchase of the West Coast franchise, its properties, and it's immediate shut down of West Coast operations. Around this time, Shelby started to shop around a few indie projects beginning with Fem 5 later published through Entity; leading to his ultimate work on the Stargate franchise. About a year later, signing a multi year deal with London Night Studios. Both pencilling and creating characters for series Razor, Morbid Angel, Knightshift, and Poison, he quickly found himself with too much work being thrown his way to produce. A handful of art assignments handed off to American Dischord friend, fellow in-house artist Warmonger [War]. Projects for LNS included chromium trading card artworks, variant covers, plot writing chores, and limited series developments. At the end of contract, Shelby once again looked to independent publishing houses to promote and purchase rights to his creations, stories, and freelance availability. Since that time, Shelby and War both have worked on hundreds of projects for an equal number of independent companies and individuals, from covers, to pin-ups, and back to trading cards. Past clientelle include Lou Ferrigno [Incredible Hulk actor of the '80's, Samson], Chris Weber [former NBA Golden State Warrior forward], and Glenn Danzig [former Misfits <punk> lead singer/songwriter, Verotik publisher] to name a few. Shelby cites the lifelong works of Alan Davis, Jim Lee, Michael Turner, and Arthur Adams to be of great influence.

American Dischord is the long term future of Shelby. What is represented in book form and on the world wide web is just a smidgen of what's in store. The next ten years of product is already undergoing production with literally hundreds of pages already press ready. We've selectively released information pertaining to our books and deliberately followed through on pre-produced volume versus publicity followed by production. American Dischord projects are constantly being edited to reflect current thought process and continuity. Another goal set by Shelby is that these aren't just books to be left collecting dust if it's viewed a failure by sales. None of our books are allowed to fail. We view all projects as a hit in its own right and they deserve to be revisited... often. .

Keeped in tune with American Dischord as there's an insane amount of material headed to the mainstream. Thanks for taking the time to read and keep us in mind whenever you feel like checking out something new and innovative!!!~

Warmonger (WAR), Dangerous around ink and all around 'stud'.

War's art career started early on as being a horror and science fiction flick junkie, finding it necessary to recreate pictures of the most odd scenery for family and friends throughout his youth and ladder school years. Coming into contact with Shelby was just the beginning of a semi-lucrative comic career, leading onto several ongoing projects within the American Dischord banner, as well as a handful of ghosting gigs for animation houses and fill in production artwork. War wishes to remain faceless and known for the imagery of fantastic and unreal dimensions he brings to every art board. Not only lending a helping hand to the causes of American Dischord, War is working on beginning his own imprint along with numerous titles TBA as well as script proposals for film and animated series. He has a fondness of the works of Frank Frazetta, Simon Bizley, Jae Lee *stresses EARLY comic works, and wishes to channel into those same energies on his pages for you, the viewers.

Kia Mae O, Hot keys and digital wizardry.

Kia has been a friend of American Dischord from its day of inception, a guiding light of color and style. Colorist, Web Designer, and Graphic Layout Artist all come to mind when Kia needs description. Kia's initial 'credited' work appears in the Superiors S-Unit issue 0 along with the many issues of Superiors to follow. Programs used are Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel Painter, along with the mighty Wacom. 'Nuff said. Kia Mae notes all masters of colour usage to be of influence.
